Examination - Assessment Policy

The College follows internal and external assessment as per the Savitribai Phule Pune University norms.

Following is the pattern of assessment (2013 Pattern)

Internal Examination 20%
External Examination 80%

As per the new circular of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Revised pattern (Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) 2019) of assessment of BBA and B.Com programme is as follows Pattern,

Internal Examination 30%
External Examination 70%

1. Internal Assessment

The main objective of internal assessment is to evaluate student learning and understanding at regular intervals. It is done by conducting surprise tests in the classroom, practice test, home assignments, projects, oral tests, presentations, group discussions and practical.

The following marking scheme of internal assessment has been applied at BCACS

  • The College conducts one Practice Test for all courses per term for each program.. Attendance in practice test is compulsory. Practice Test timetable is duly prepared and circulated among the students in advance. Portions for Practice Tests are divided according to the unit based on the syllabus Completed. Question paper for practice tests are based on the previous year question papers of the University. After correction, the answer books are distributed to students with marks and suggestions for improvement on it.
  • Home assignments are given after completion of each unit. Dates for submission of home assignments are notified on the college notice boards and informed by the teachers individually in the classrooms at least a week in advance. Assignments are then corrected by the course faculty and to ensure transparency of the evaluation process marks for the same are given on their notebook and the same are displayed on the notice board
  • Surprise tests are conducted after each unit completed by the course teacher. The answer books are distributed to the students after every surprise test. The students shall go through the answer books, check and acknowledge the marks secured and return the papers to the faculty concerned. The surprise tests papers are kept with course faculty till the completion of the student’s course of study. Test marks are displayed on the notice board regularly.
  • Final internal marks are calculated on the basis of the marks secured in the above categories and converted into 20 marks (2013 pattern) and 30 marks (2019 pattern)

2. External Assessment

As per Savitribai Phule Pune University External assessment is done through 80 marks theory examination which is assessed by University.
